Garmin Nuvi GPS Saves Gas

Garmin has recently released a free software download for their overwhelmingly popular Garmin Nuvi GPS series that will not only find the most fuel efficient route for your destination, but also monitor your driving style and make recommendations for you to improve your fuel efficiency.

There is more too. This new software will also track fuel usage over time and monitor mileage and fuel use on a per-trip basis. This provides the driver with a means to easily keep track of fuel used and distance travelled for business reimbursements and taxable travel allowances.

The free software is called ecoRoute and is available for download from the Garmin website. While it is not currently available for all Garmin Nuvi GPS models it is available at this time for the 2×5 and 7×5 series which includes the extremely popular Garmin 255W.

How does it work? Once installed in the Garmin Nuvi GPS device the setup process will enable the user to select their vehicle profile and enter some vehicle estimated fuel economy data and current fuel costs which the device will use to calculate the running costs.

It determines driving style by monitoring things such as acceleration and deceleration rates and over all cruising speed and then calculates performance against the vehicle’s pre-configured profile. It even gives the Garmin nuvi the ability to keep score to determine just how efficiently the driver is driving and how much room for improvement there is.

Saving money at the pump is not something we have much control over, but reducing the frequency in how often we need to visit “the pump” is something Garmin’s new ecoRoute software for their Nuvi GPS devices does give us some control over.

2012 Volkswagen Jetta: Now Rival For More

2012 Volkswagen Jetta is one of the successful cars that the German car maker Volkswagen Group has manufactured. This is on the whole a small family car. Volkswagen sells a car named Golf which has been a great success all over the world. Golf is a hatchback. Jetta is a modified version of Golf. It is also a small family car but it is marketed as a sedan i.e. next to the Golf brand. Over the period of time, the car has seen changes in its built and features. The version we are presenting a review of is the new 2012 Volkswagen Jetta. It is worth noting that the sales of Volkswagen Jetta have increased in the US to a large extent, to put it into perspective, as much as 74% after the recent cut downs they have done to the car. The new 2012 Jetta is a trimmed down version because of which its price has slowed down. This is becoming the reason behind the people flocking to VW showrooms to buy a Jetta.

It is giving a stiff competition to the likes of Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla.

The new Jetta comes with the option of four engines which are a 2.0 liter four cylinder gas engine with 115 hp of power, a 2.5 liter engine which is capable of generating 170 hp of power and the maximum torque generated is at 177 pound feet, another 2.0 liter four cylinder TDI but clean diesel engine that can deliver 140 hp and another option which is a 2.0 liter turbo four cylinder GLI engine that can crank out 200 hp. All of these engines give a proper combination of performance and efficiency. When it comes to trannys, the gas engines give you only a standard five speed manual transmission or a six speed tip tronic auto transmission. On the other hand the GLI and TDI engines can get you a tip tronic six speed DSG auto transmission or a six speed manual transmission. The 2.0 L engine can deliver 34 highway mpg.

On the inside the, the car does have an attractive look. VW has been trying to cut down the costs of the car which is somehow working towards the increased sales of the car, so you would see the quality of the material used on the inside might not be of the same quality as was used earlier. The steering wheel has multifunction capabilities so that you can control the drive as well as a slew of other things. The rear legroom in the Jetta is spacious which makes the ride even more comfortable.

On the outside the new Volkswagen Jetta carries a sober and sophisticated look. The sports laser seam wielding instead of spot wielding gives it increased stability and safety. The base model comes with 17 inch alloy wheels, black grille and crash optimized front end and is a standard for all models.

The price of various trims available for 2012 Volkswagen Jetta range between the MSRP of ,495 and ,445.
